Reindustrialisation: What Revival for tomorrow's France?

Industry is the backbone of the economy. Passionate about oceanography, Céline Procop compares the industry to the big predators. “You remove sharks from the oceans, you will get a proliferation of herbivorous fish. The same sequence was noticed in Yellow Stone Park, when the wolves were all hunted down. Cervids abounded in a few years, destroying the flora in unimaginable proportions." This chain of food chains is called the trophic cascade and the principle applies in metaphor to the economy.

What Revival for tomorrow's France?

For 1 euro of production, industry consumes 0.7 euro of intermediate products, generating a powerful ripple effect on all related activities. By way of comparison, the service professions generate 0.4 euros (2004 Datar report).

When an industrialist produces and manufactures in France, he nurtures a succession of other trades in its wake (with positive consequences locally): craftsmen, subcontractors, machine manufacturers ... It is indeed a virtuous circle that it is necessary to recreate, with adapted regulations and a policy of relevant aid to recreate the rural industry defeated without parsimony in the 20th century.

Even if the industry, just like wolves and sharks, has not always had a good reputation, some manufacturers continue to misunderstand their overall impact, it is nonetheless true that Industry, at the top of the economic chain, has its place to play in the economic sovereignty of tomorrow. Two models are available: subsidize businesses at any cost, to ensure the maintenance of jobs or else create a viable ecosystem for suitable economic models.  »

The France Relance plan is a roadmap put in place by the State, for the economic, social and ecological overhaul of our country. It aims to breathe new life into the industry. Helping companies through French or European subsidies is very good, but it is also necessary to help companies which are doing well and which have already proven sound management and a viable economic model for their company. Guyenne Papier is a survivor of the paper deindustrialization. The company has been able to reposition itself and now targets a niche market, to adjust and maintain a position of European leader.
